The first sustainable, bamboo school!

Osa Peninsula has a reason to celebrate. The construction of the first sustainable school in Carate de Osa is about to end.

There, in the middle of the forest, is built a small school made of bamboo that is harvested in the area. According to the Institute of Rural Development (INDER) it will have two classrooms, bathrooms, school dining room and other additional services.

The construction was done respecting environmental standards and it will be illuminated with solar panels. In addition, water supply will be eco-friendly.

In the same way, the school will be included in guided tours for tourists that visits the South Zone. For the project, the INDER allocated ¢ 148 million and it was carried out along with the Ministry of Public Education.

In addition, the Ecocultural Hall is the second sustainable construction in Osa, in the community of Dos Brazos of Río Tigre, which is located about 30 minutes from Puerto Jiménez.

The center will promote presentations, exhibitions, meetings and endless activities for the community and visitors.

The way it was constructed and the finishes guarantee more than 20 years of useful life to these works.
