From 4:00 am on Monday, May 1st, a group of 500 drivers from Uber disconnected from the platform.
They did this to express their discomfort against certain situations in their daily work, such as the illegality in which the company operates.
According to one of the coordinators of the activity, who asked not to be identified,
we are in a ‘peaceful strike’, since we are not going to make any demonstrations in the street, but what we are trying to do with this is that the company does not give our rights.”
The driver said that this “disconnection” is the way to make known their opposition to various issues that harm them, such as the advanced fee charged by Uber and the 25% reduction made for each trip.
We ask that this is only 15%,”
said the driver.
According to the leader, another issue is the illegality with which they work day by day,
we also ask Uber to intercede with the Government so that we can work formally, because although the platform is not yet viable, we pay the same (…) We are very anxious about this, because we see that this is going at a very low pace and we are the ones in danger.”
