Two fishermen were rescued by the National Coast Guard

June 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Two fishermen whose boat was stranded in waters off the Gulf of Nicoya, off Cedros Island, were aided on Wednesday by officers of the National Coast Guard Service.

According to the report made public on Thursday, the fishing boat experienced mechanical problems and the engine went out, which is why it was adrift.

The station of Caldera sent a boat with coastguard, who managed to locate the stranded boat called “La Poli JJ”, which had two fishermen on board.

The officers verified that the fishermen were in good health conditions, after which they made towing maneuvers to Puntarenas, where they were left in a safe place.

The fishermen were identified as José Alberto Gómez Cervantes and Denis Alberto Pineda Cruz.
