More women are visiting the doctor for vaginal-aesthetic procedures

June 12, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Although it is a taboo subject, more and more women attend medical offices in search of solutions that only aesthetic gynecology can give them.

But far from what one might think, these procedures do not only respond to aesthetic or banal issues, but are often necessary in terms of sexual and reproductive health, as explained by Ronald Salazar, gynecologist, obstetrician and sub-specialist in aesthetic gynecology at the Gestar Clinic.

According to the specialist, aesthetic gynecology comes to fix some of the vaginal areas of a “functional” nature, which may appear at different stages of life.

Dr. Salazar commented that there are five common ailments that lead women to look for alternatives in this specialty: labioplasty of the labia minora, vaginal flaccidity, vaginal dryness, pain during penetration, bleaching of genital area.

Currently, in Costa Rica there is a novel treatment to address problems such as those mentioned above, called “High Frequency Focused Ultrasound and Definition”, which replaces “CO2 laser” technology. This advanced technology allows to treat special ailments that occur in women and its main function is “vaginal rejuvenation” in a practical and painless procedure.
