Authorities investigate Polish family asking for money in Liberia to return home

June 19, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Monday morning, the Public Force started to investigate a Polish family, who asked for money in the park of Liberia, Guanacaste, to return to their country.

Daniel Calderón, director of the entity in the province, explained that they received information that the family was asking for financial help. When authorities approached them, they realized that there were two girls, so they involved the National Children’s Patronage to initiate the investigation process.

We had to send them to Migration because the names they provided do not appear in the records. We are checking because they don’t have their passports. They said they left them in the care of a woman in the area,”

said the official.

In social networks it was reported that the couple were requiring help to pay for airfare to their country. However, people commented they have lived in Costa Rica for several month, appealing to the solidarity of Ticos.

They came here thinking of having a more natural lifestyle, fleeing the Polish city, but they found a super expensive country where it is difficult to be financially stable without having enough to pay high rent. In short, I think that making the decision to return to their country will be the most sensible,”

wrote on a woman identified as Erika Mora.
