Venezuelan Attorney General asks to investigate “possible” corruption in Maduro’s government

June 19, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Venezuelan Attorney General Luisa Ortega has called for investigating possible corruption cases in the government, before hundreds of officials from her office who went on to the street on Monday to support her.

Why is there no food and medicine? Are resources being used for different purposes? I do not know, I cannot say, but it would be good for the anti-corruption prosecutors to investigate,”

said Ortega in a speech at the prosecutor’s office in downtown Caracas.

The drug issue must be investigated,”

Ortega continued, although she did not say whether there were any suspicions for that crime.

The chavista prosecutor is facing Maduro and the highest court of justice for rulings broke the constitutional order, and in rejection of a Constituent Assembly convened by the president.

Senior officials, including Vice President Tareck El Aissami, have been sanctioned by the United States, which accuses them of alleged links to drug trafficking.

Be strong, Luisa Ortega. We support you in defense of the Constitution and human rights,”

read a banner carried by one of the employees, who joined opponents between slogans against Maduro.
