More than 500 SMEs say yes to sustainability

June 26, 2017 by Staff News Writer

In the last eight years, more than 500 SMEs have taken on the commitment to take a turn and become environmentally friendly.

According to the Fundecooperation for Sustainable Development, credits to make the transition from conventional systems to production and marketing systems based on environmental responsibility have increased in the country.

Costa Rican companies are increasingly inclined towards sustainability, generating a responsible cycle in their business that encompasses the process, the market, suppliers and their culture in general,”

said Marianella Feoli, program director.

The organizers of the program say that micro, small and medium enterprises have overcome fears and developed innovative ideas to reduce environmental impact.

Not only is there more national companies that have a good environmental management, but also the market has changed positively, as Costa Ricans consume and use more products and services that are friendly to the environment and are willing to pay the price in return of the benefit of acquiring them, so this responsible route represents multiple business advantages,”

concluded Feoli.
