Desamparados will be filled with folklore for two weeks

July 23, 2017 by Staff News Writer

For two weeks, Desamparados will be filled with folklore, culture, traditions and performances by 120 artists, who will participate in the International Folk Festival, Desampa Romances de mi Tierra 2017.

The Local Government and the Kamuk Folklore Projection Group are promoting this activity for the first time in order to promote the folklore and traditions of each participating country. It will be held from today until August 7th, in the framework of the celebration of the Annexation of the Nicoya Party.

Throughout the canton, there will be different scenarios that will surprise the neighbors. On July 25th, the group presentations will be held at the Centro de Desamparados Park starting at 9:30 a.m.

The local government is aiming at transforming the canton into a folk and artistic city, so that citizens can enjoy Costa Rican cultural wealth and cultures that go beyond these borders.

This festival will have the participation of five international groups that will also visit schools.

Twenty-five national groups will join the representatives of France, Israel, Mexico, Panama and El Salvador.
