Of the 380 private education centers authorized by the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), 37 are in arrears due to worker-employer quotas with the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

The debt went from ¢279 million to ¢282 million as it grew by 1.08% in the first eight months of this year.

In addition, according to the CCSS, these delinquent educational centers have 35 closing-businesses procedures for delinquency, 56 lawsuits and 17 criminal complaints.

Of the total debt, the top 10 schools on the list owe ¢235 million, or 83 percent of the debt.
