Poás exploded twice

August 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

As if it was watching what Turrialba Volcano does, Poás Volcano did not want to be left behind and erupted twice on Thursday.

Two hours after the eruption from Turrialba, the colossus from Alajuela registered two events, just ten minutes apart.

The column of materials was raised 600 meters above the crater. This was confirmed by the reports of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).

At 10:08 a.m. the National Seismological Network (RSN) reported that the eruption was still ongoing. The images uploaded to Facebook, show, once again, the reddish columns because of the oxidation and internal chemical processes in the volcano.
