Eco-friendly houses? It is possible!

August 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

More and more people, organizations and companies are seeking to minimize their negative impact on the environment. This has made eco-friendly homes increase in popularity and acceptance.

In the Costa Rican market, there are several alternatives that allow to build “green”, such as the company “Eco houses”, which works with wood from renewable sources such as yellow pine and Chilean radiata imported from the southern United States.

These woods come from young trees that suck up more carbon dioxide and thus clean and purify the air better, says David Sancho, sales consultant for the company.

We are an eco-friendly company not only because of the materials we use, but our constructive system is bioclimatic. We work on wooden piles, this allows the air to flow both below and above the house to generate a cross ventilation system.”

In addition, Sancho explains that a “green house” uses elements such as glass windows throughout the house to make the most of the sunlight during the day. In addition to the materials, other elements that have taken hold in sustainable homes are renewable energy generators such as solar panels.

Carlos Oreamuno, Electromechanical Engineer of the Sonsolar company, explains that the most important thing is to return the electric consumption of the home first, then replace the high energy consumers with solar generators.

To make a proper replacement of the white line, Verónica Sánchez, Marketing Coordinator for Panasonic, recommends doing so through technologies such as Inverter or Econavi.

While the initial investment may be greater when purchasing these technologies and materials, energy savings will be reflected in the long-term electricity bill and will reduce the negative impact on the environment.
