The Polish girls relocated by the National Children’s Trust (PANI), due to begging conditions propitiated by their parents, would return to their home country.
The three-year-old girl and her baby sister were transferred to an alternative protection and custody measure since the beginning of July, because they were both seen with their parents begging and asking for money in public places of Santa Cruz and Liberia, Guanacaste.
The children were claimed by a family in Poland. Therefore, the PANI is now in the process of repatriation that goes hand in hand with efforts made with homologous authorities in that European country.
The parents of the child, who had arrived in Costa Rica as tourists, filed an appeal against the measure applied by the board. However, it was rejected this week.
The PANI confirmed that the foreign couple does not want to return to Poland.
They had filed an appeal to the executive presidency, who responded this week by ordering the local Santa Cruz office to continue the repatriation process,”
said PANI spokeswoman Fanny Cordero.
Similarly, the girls’ parents filed an amparo before the Constitutional Chamber, in contradistinction to the efforts made by PANI. This has yet to be resolved.
Although they arrived with stomach problems and anemia, the minors recovered and remain in good health.
