Man arrested for alleged human trafficking in Peñas Blancas

October 15, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Officials of the Border Police apprehended a 27-year-old Nicaraguan man for the alleged human trafficking offense this weekend.

The foreigner, surnamed Guzmán, took a countryman over an unauthorized border crossing in Peñas Blancas in the canton of La Cruz, bordering Nicaragua.

When Guzmán was arrested by the Border Police, the other Nicaraguan, who did not carry any documents, reported that Guzmán charged him 10 thousand colones to cross the border.

As a result, the officers coordinated with the Liberia Prosecutor’s Office the immediate custody and transfer of the suspect and the victim.
