Prosecutor opened case against operators involved in Heredia’s train crash

November 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of Heredia opened an investigation on the circumstances of the frontal collision of two trains on Monday afternoon, in Santa Rosa de Santo Domingo, in Heredia.

The case was opened against train operators named Arias Cordero, who was driving unit 2459 in the direction of Heredia-San José; and Castillo Ramírez, driver of train 6010, who was moving in the opposite direction.

The investigation is carried out for the alleged crime of culpable injuries. In fact, this same Monday, investigation diligences were carried out in the place to locate with precision the exact point of the collision, the sidings, the points of visibility and the magnitude of the damage.

In addition, they intend to establish the location of potential whistleblowers within the trains, given that the number of crimes of culpable injuries to be charged will depend on the number of complaints filed by those affected.

Therefore, those who wish to do so, can go to any Prosecutor’s Office or a delegation of the Judicial Investigation Agency. The investigation is in preparatory stage, which consists on the collection and analysis of evidence.
