Tico pleads guilty in the US for selling fake ED pills

November 7, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A Costa Rican named Navarro Quesada pleaded guilty to US justice for crimes of mail fraud and money laundering.

This was acknowledged by the 41-year-old subject, before Judge Donetta W. Ambrose, in charge of the Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Navarro was arrested last February at the Adolfo Suárez-Barajas airport in Madrid, following a request made to the International Police (Interpol) by US authorities.

Navarro acknowledged having used a website domiciled in Costa Rica to illegally market erectile dysfunction drugs, which were brought from India. The products were subsequently admitted to the United States to meet the needs of some customers.

According to the indictment, the man, along with other suspects, deceived customers into believing that the pills were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but actually, they were fakes of Adderall and Viagra. Also, they were told that it was legitimate to distribute such medicines without prescription.

The Costa Rican will be sentenced on March 18th at 11:00 a.m. (local time) and could be sentenced up to 40 years in prison. He could even get a fine of $ 750 thousand.
