7 signs that climate change is happening

November 12, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The United Nations (UN) released a video showing seven signs that climate change is happening.

The presentation of these images was made in the framework of the 23rd edition of the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP23), which takes place from November 6th to 17th in Bonn, Germany.

The list submitted by the UN includes:
1. Increase in global temperature
2. Frequent extreme weather events
3. The concentration of CO2 continues to accumulate
4. The sea level continues to rise
5. The acidification of the oceans does not recede
6. Ice sheets in Antarctica are reduced
7. Decreases in Arctic sea ice

The objective of this global meeting is to discuss the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

There are about 27 thousand people from 197 countries that meet in this event, among political leaders, environmentalists, businessmen and artists who will meet to accelerate the agreements signed in Paris in 2015, where it was defined that by the end of the century the global temperatures should not increase more than 1.5 degrees.
