Criminal organization of Guadalupe dismembered and killed three of its members

December 7, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The murders of the three people who were found dismembered in the vicinity of the Zurquí Tunnel, in March this year, were a revenge from the same criminal organization to which the three deceased belonged.

This was determined by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) on Wednesday morning, when it arrested three of the five people suspected of committing the crime.

Wálter Espinoza, director of the OIJ, said that the three deceased of 30, 24 and 16 years old were murdered on March 14th, however the discovery of the remains occurred on March 21st.

The bodies were found in four bags. They did not have arms, legs and heads stuck to the trunks, which made identification difficult. The three victims stole drugs and money from the organization, which operated in Guadalupe.

The OIJ confirmed that the three raids were made on Calle Blancos, Tibás and La Aurora de Heredia. The result was the arrest of Óscar Arias, 28, José Pablo Valerio, 24, and Frankling Hernández, 25.

The fifth person in charge was identified as Yeltsin Johel Chacón who died in a homicide registered on August 31st this year.

Espinoza indicated that this type of violence within the same criminal organization is not frequent.
