Fish are dying in Ruins of Cartago

December 13, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Many people from Cartago were surprised to find dead fish in the pond of the Ruins of Cartago.

When asked about this, Rafael Hernández, veterinarian of the Municipality of Cartago, said that an inspection was made in the pond and indicated that this type of fish are very resistant to low temperatures, so it is not usual for animals to die because of this.

However, it is important to emphasize that it is not appropriate to take them to another place abruptly, since stress can cause them to die,”

said the veterinarian.

According to the professional, if they find more dead animals, they will proceed to send their bodies to pathology to identify the cause, “because it could be an infection or a toxic product in the water,” explained Hernández.
