Congresswoman Ligia Fallas, from Frente Amplio, denounced that legislator Juan Luis Jiménez Succar, from the National Liberation Party (PLN), sent images with sexual content to an institutional chat of the Legislative Assembly. The legislator filed the complaint on December 13th with Karla Granados, director of the Public Relations, Press and Protocol Department of Congress.
According to the note, the congressman sends the photos to a chat called ‘Protocol’ which includes all the cell phone numbers of legislators, the executive director of the Assembly, Antonio Ayales, and Granados, who has been the group’s administrator since July 2015.
I think it is important that there is such chat to communicate and discuss issues related to our work as legislators. However, it is not used exclusively for this, but rather for sports information, jokes, and what is a worse, images that objectify women,”
said Fallas in the complaint.
According to Fallas, if the legislators wish to send this type of information, they should do it in another chat. The legislator asked Protocol to indicate if there are rules for participation in this chat and asked that action be taken.
Jiménez Succar said that he already offered his apologies in the same chat.
