What to do with Christmas trees?

December 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

What to do with Christmas tree once the holidays are over? There are still people who don’t know how to get rid of it.

Throw it in the trash along with other waste, burn it or leave it on public roads, are some of the most common practices, but not the most appropriate.

If you are going to dispose of it, you must first cut the tree in three or four parts, making sure that each piece does not exceed half a meter.

In addition, it should be placed in the bottom of the garbage basket closest to your property.

This year, 10 municipalities of the country along with the company FarmAgro will collect this waste as part of the initiative “Give a gift to nature” that is responsible for processing the remains and turning them into organic fertilizer and decorative elements.

This is the seventh edition of this project. Last year 3,614 trees were collected.

An important alternative for next Christmas is to plant a cypress in your home, to avoid unnecessary waste and help the environment.
