Cold front leaves the country after wreaking havoc in Limón

January 17, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The cold front that hit the country since last Sunday begins to diminish its influence on the territory. However, the province of Limon has not managed to overcome its impact.

According to the recent report of the National Commission of Emergencies (CNE), in the last hours 263 incidents have been reported, due to floods, strong winds, landslides, isolated communities, among others. Similarly, nine shelters remain enabled to serve 476 people who had to be relocated, most of them from Talamanca and Matina.

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) reported that both the rain and the trade winds will decrease during the course of the day, so that rains will only occur in the North Caribbean, North and South Caribbean.

The yellow alert is maintained for the North Zone, the Caribbean and Sarapiqui, while the North Pacific, Central Pacific and Central Valley are on green alert.
