The Executive Branch will convene a set of bills aimed at strengthening the fight against crime starting next Monday at the extraordinary sessions of the Legislative Assembly.
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency for Legislative Affairs, Luis Paulino Mora, said on Thursday that this is one of the axes to which the Government will bet in the last three months of administration.
According to the hierarch, the legal proposals aim to improve citizen security and fight organized crime.
Some of the initiatives highlighted are:
• Law of extinction of domain: its objective is that the State can confiscate goods to people linked to drug trafficking or illicit activities. It is in the Legislative Plenary.
• Strengthening of the Municipal Police: provides the cantonal authorities with new competences and tools to improve the safety of citizens. It was ruled affirmatively by the Security and Drug Trafficking Committee of the Congress last November.
• Creation of the National Police Academy: seeks to professionalize the police service. It was affirmatively approved by the Security and Drug Trafficking Commission last August.
The Deputy Minister explained that in the call for bills to extraordinary legislative actions that the Executive will also emphasize on initiatives to improve infrastructure and public transport.
In addition, it will insist on the Law for the strengthening of public finances, which includes the creation of new taxes.
