200 volunteers prepared beach for the arrival of turtles

March 1, 2018 by Staff News Writer

More than 200 volunteers organized to clean the Camaronal Beach in Guanacaste in order to facilitate the spawning process of around 1000 turtles. About five kilometers of coastline were cleared and cleaned, allowing access for olive ridley, hawksbill and leatherback turtles, species that nest in the area each month.

We want to have a positive impact on the communities where we operate and offer Costa Ricans the opportunity to join us in this cause. The more we are, the better. Therefore, we invite organizations and companies to our volunteer activities in Elegí Ayudar,”

said Gisela Sánchez, who was part of the initiative.

The waste that was collected during the day will be separated and taken to recycling during the next weeks. The project was joined by 15 entities from the business, academic, public and community areas.

From 2015 to date, Reserva Conchal has accumulated 11,050 volunteer hours in projects in the community, such as maintenance of schools, national parks, children’s dining rooms, nursing homes, support to the Food Bank of Guanacaste and animal rescue centers, cleaning of beaches and communities, conservation areas, reforestation, financial education to the community and more.
