Lower precipitation rate forces ESPH to ration service

April 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The decrease in rainfall due to summer caused a significant decrease in the flow of surface sources that supply several areas of San Rafael and San Isidro de Heredia. Therefore, the Public Services Company of Heredia began rationing water in Concepción de San Rafael and Calle Zurquí since last Thursday.

According to the institution, in Concepción about 4,600 people will be affected by the measure.

This site was divided in two, so the northern area will have the supply tank open from 5:00 am until 9:00 am. While in the afternoon, the tank will reopen at 5:00 pm and until 9:00 at night. The southern area of Concepción will have the tank open between 5:15 am and 9:15 am and between 5:15 pm and 9:15 pm,”

explained the entity.

In Zurquí Street, about 100 people will be affected. There, the descent of the flows of the Mata de Caña and Mata de Maiz sources will cause fluctuations in service between 9:45 in the morning and 12:45 in the afternoon.

It is important to remember that similar measures were already being applied in Santa Cecilia and in Chilillal due to the drop of almost 70% of the flow of the surface sources that supply the areas. Said rationing will be extended indefinitely.
