On May 8th there will be restricted access to Plaza de la Democracia and nearby areas

May 3, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The ceremony for the transfer of powers will be held next Tuesday in Plaza de la Democracia, which will involve a security device that will close streets surrounding the event site.

From 6 am, vehicular and pedestrian access will be restricted from the National Park until the Courts of Justice. Only the duly accredited media and the two thousand people who managed to get their ticket to be part of the inauguration of Carlos Alvarado will be able to enter.

The security ring will be rigorous for these people, so the organization recommends arriving early. The roads will be completely closed on Second Avenue from behind the Metropolitan Cathedral and to La California.

The activities of the Presidential Command Transmission will start at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at about 1 p.m. Then, at 4:30 pm there will be a concert at Plaza de la Democracia to celebrate the start of the new term. Malpaís, Ghandi, MasterKey, Bernardo Quesada and other groups will perform in this event.
