Former President Solís and Mercedes Peñas will leave the country

June 6, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Luis Guillermo Solís and his wife Mercedes Peñas Domingo will leave Costa Rica to start a new career in Florida, United States. This was announced on Wednesday afternoon by Peñas, who commented on his Facebook site about his new life project.

I thank the International University of Florida (FIU) for granting Luis Guillermo and I the honor of working with them during one year, starting in September. I, as a researcher on issues of territorial development and risk prevention at the local level, and Luis as a visiting professor at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. From this new responsibility I will continue to support Costa Rica in improving the management of the territories,”

said the former first lady.

Solis had assured shortly before leaving power that he would return to his life as a university professor.
