Legislators will analyze cuts in the legislative budget

June 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

With the aim of reducing expenses in the Legislative Assembly and getting in tune with the issue of financial control, the legislators will sit down and see where their expenses can be reduced.

The president of the Congress, Carolina Hidalgo, confirmed that next Monday she will meet with members of the legislative directory and to receive proposals from the different fractions to reduce the expenses.

According to the national budget plan for 2018, the first Power of the Republic will spend some ¢36,915.0 million. Eighty percent of the budget is spent in compensation and social contributions alone.

Part of the criticism is that these resources involve the use of Congress vehicles, gasoline coupons, among other benefits.

Hidalgo did not explained which areas these cuts may be applied, as it will have to be analyzed through the figure of a multi-party agreement. However, she did exemplify that in some cases several measures are already applied, such as not having completed all the places to which they were entitled, as was done by Acción Ciudadana.
