American citizen drowned in Quepos

June 27, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A foreigner drowned in Matapalo Beach in Quepos on Wednesday at 4:25 p.m. According to Jorge Matamoros, operations coordinator of the Red Cross of Puntarenas, the 60-year-old American was dragged by the current while he was bathing in the sea.

A young man rescued the victim and other subjects gave him CPR maneuvers, while the Red Cross arrived. Unfortunately, the unit took more than 30 minutes to arrive at the site, since it responded from Quepos center to Matapalo, which is far away, and when it arrived, the person was declared dead on the site,”

explained Matamoros.

At the moment the identity of the victim is unknown.
