RECOPE reports sabotage: strikers damaged electrical equipment

The Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery (RECOPE) denounced an alleged sabotage against the electrical system of Moín plant facilities.

The entity described the event as sabotage by the officials who protest against the Fiscal Plan currently being discussed in the Legislative Assembly.

RECOPE announced that it will file the respective complaint with the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ).

Today, these facilities had no electric power because, according to what has been corroborated, the electrical substation system was violated by the personnel who support the strike movement, since the damaged equipment is located in points only known by personnel of the plant,”

informed the entity.

RECOPE said that it has being subject to damages such as:

– The disconnection of the main substation.
– 15 substations that supply electricity to the entire campus were out of service.
– Sudden failure of equipment, including the pipeline control center and the level control system of the LPG storage areas.
– There were cut wires and fuse removal.

The institution assured that they have already managed to detect the problem and continue with regular operations.
