The Embassy of the United States in Costa Rica sent a warning message to its citizens who are in Costa Rican territory, due to the current strike.
Through its website, the Embassy mentioned that the demonstration called by the unions against the tax reform project and the government will continue this week. The union block started the strike on September 10th. Dialogue was resumed on Tuesday with the Catholic Church as mediator.
In the message it was stated that the protesters could interrupt government services, create traffic jams and obstacles, and interrupt sales.
This could happen with little or no warning,”
said the entity.
The Embassy also replied the message from the Ministry of Security, regarding the measures will be taken to guarantee free transit and delivery of fuel. “However, intermittent fuel shortages and cancellations of medical appointments that are not emergencies in public hospitals could occur,” warned the entity, which added they cannot predict when the strike will end.
