The government and the unions resumed the negotiations to reach an agreement that would lead to the establishment of a dialogue table to thoroughly discuss the fiscal crisis. However, these negotiations occur in the midst of social tensions.
The government condemned that on Thursday morning officials and union members took the operations room in San Juan de Dios Hospital, which according to medical authorities, delayed about 10 operations for urgent cancer patients.
On the other hand, the unions denounced an alleged interference in the decisions of the judges that resolve the illegality of the strike in public institutions. The unionists say Judge Julia Varela would have exchanged WhatsApp messages referencing the way to approach the procedure to resolve requests for declaration of illegality.
Varela denied the accusations and said that her statements were distorted, since she only gave general explanations on how to deal with the requests.
This Thursday’s meeting will be the third to last between the government and the unions, because on Tuesday both parties agreed that the dialogue will be concluded this Friday at 10 pm, whether or not an agreement has been reached.
