Unions missed meeting with Minister Mora

November 5, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The unions that make up the Joint Labor Relations Board with the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) rejected the meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Édgar Mora, Minister of Public Education, called the Union of Costa Rican Educators (SEC), the National Association of Educators (ANDE), and the Association of Teachers of High School Teaching (APSE) to discuss issues related to the strike; however, they declined the invitation without giving a formal answer.

The main concern of the MEP is the lack of grades record, which affects the students, because the teachers went on strike on September 10th without registering these figures. For the minister, this is a matter of negligence, so they have had to resort to the proposal of mechanisms of effective time for 2019, a proposal that was to be presented to the unions.

The minister assured that in view of the fact that there was no meeting, unilateral decisions will have to be taken by the MEP.
