Businessmen see 2019 with “optimism”

December 20, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Although the year that is about to end was difficult due to the fiscal uncertainty and the consequences of the union strike that lasted 89 days, the business sector looks at 2019 with optimism.

The Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP) trusts that next year will be marked by economic reactivation, improvements in competitiveness, employment generation and new bills for a reform of the State.

The president of the UCCAEP, Gonzalo Delgado, explained that caution is also necessary, since the second semester of 2019 will be marked by the fiscal time adjustment such as the change to the Value Added Tax (VAT).

They also call for the simplification of the use of technologies and tax rules; for example, that electronic invoices can be generated and accepted – more easily – from a cell phone.

One of the issues that will continue to drive the UCCAEP is dual education, because education is still the tool for poverty reduction and economic reactivation. It is estimated that 150 thousand young people between 15 and 24 years do not study or work.
