Coyote sighting in conservation area

January 22, 2019 by Staff News Writer

A beautiful coyote was seen in a street in the Guanacaste Conservation Area, which is unprecedented, especially because it was daytime.

The photographs were published on the Facebook wall of said organization and were taken by Christian Zúñiga.

Today we had the opportunity to closely observe an impressive species of our dry forest, a Canis latrans, a coyote,”

was the publication.

According to the organization’s site, the coyotes are omnivores and feed on mice or rats, rabbits, turtle eggs, owls, among other species.

They can be active at night and during the day they are gregarious. They rest in caves, under fallen logs or in holes in the ground. The howls are heard during the night, more often in the rainy season.”
