Executive establishes new limits for public employment

February 19, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The government issued a new decree to regulate the new delimitations on public employment and remunerations, which were approved in the Law on Strengthening Public Finances (Law 9635).

The regulation, published this Monday in the official newspaper La Gaceta, defines the rules for the interpretation and application of the law in everything related to the payment of prohibition incentives, exclusive dedication, annuities, unemployment, as well as other benefits for the officials.

It also clarifies that the provisions of the regulation will not have retroactive effect and therefore will respect the rights acquired prior to the entry into force of Law No. 9635. Therefore, the total salary of the employees cannot be diminished and the acquired rights that they hold will be respected.

The regulation includes four chapters:

I. General provisions

II- Regulation of the remunerative system

III. Unemployment Assistance

IV. On incentives, benefits, compensations and other general provisions of salary.
