Bill would lower taxes only for plug-in electric vehicles

May 17, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The stimulus plan for purchasing electrical or hybrid vehicles will only be for those automobiles that require a plug-in to recharge their batteries.

Thus establish the Bill of Incentive and Promotion for Electric Transportation, that is being discussed by the Legislative Assembly under the file 19.774.

The goal of the bill is to reduce fuel oil consumption and lowering emissions that cause health problems.

This project was approved two weeks ago in the “Comisión de Gobierno y Administración” with support of all political blocs. Now the bill will pass to the plenary.

As of today this market is small. It requires an impulse. We believe this is transition towards an economy free of emissions and oil”, said Marcela Guerrero, congresswoman of Partido Acción Ciudadana and co-author of the bill.
