Authorities deport member of Salvadoran gang for the second time

February 25, 2019 by Staff News Writer

For the second time in less than 10 years, authorities deported a man identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha, MS-13.

On Saturday, the Professional Migration Police informed it deported the Salvadoran national named Guzmán Durán at 09:40 a.m. The foreigner had already been deported in 2012.

However, authorities of the Public Force arrested him in July 2016, after he stole a cell phone from a woman in Pavas. At the time, the authorities said that he and another subject attacked a young woman with a knife.

The man was convicted and, after serving his sentence, he entered the Central Region Apprehension Center, on January 20th, 2019.
