Electric vehicles without restriction will have special spaces in parking lots

February 28, 2019 by Staff News Writer

To encourage the purchase and use of electric vehicles and favor decarbonization plans, the government will remove electric vehicles from vehicular restriction and promote preferential parking spaces.

The measures were announced on Wednesday by the first lady, Claudia Dobles, and Environment Minister Carlos Manuel Rodríguez. They also announced that electric vehicles will have, from this Wednesday, a green color plate that differentiates them from the rest of the fleet.

To begin with the general delivery of the new plates this Wednesday, they signed the decree that formalizes the Regulation of Distinctive for Electric Vehicles. President Carlos Alvarado and the Minister of Justice, Marcia González, participated in the event.

People who have an electric vehicle and want to change their license plate should only perform the normal replacement process in the National Registry.
