New boats confiscate more than six tons of cocaine

April 12, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The authorities report that, after four months, two new boats used in the fight against drugs already confiscated six tons of cocaine.

The statistics of the National Coast Guard Service (SNG) show excellent results: more than 6 thousand kilos of cocaine have been seized in this period.

The interceptor boats were donated, last November, by the Government of the United States, through the Office for Counternarcotics, Citizen Security and Justice of the United States Embassy.

Costa Rica is one of the most agile allies in the maritime zone of the region and for this reason the donation of these two intercepting boats is a direct reflection of the success of Costa Rica’s National Coast Guard Service and its excellent results,”

commented Christopher Harris, Director of that unit.

Each boat is valued at 750 thousand dollars.
