Chavismo calls for demonstrations in response to protests led by Guaidó

April 23, 2019 by Staff News Writer

On Monday, the ruling party called for demonstrations in Venezuela for April 27th and May 1st, the same days of the protests led by the opposition of Juan Guaidó in his offensive against the government of socialist Nicolás Maduro.

We want to summon our militancy to two large mobilizations,”

announced Héctor Rodríguez, leader of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

On May 27th, Venezuela will formally leave the Organization of American States (OAS), two years after Maduro began the steps to withdraw from the bloc, which he accused of being part of a Washington campaign to “intervene” the country.

We call on all the Chavista people to mobilize to celebrate the definitive exit from that space of domination and subordination to US interests,”

said Rodriguez.

This month, the Permanent Council of the OAS accepted an envoy of Guaidó as the representative of Venezuela.

It is usual in Venezuela for the ruling party to call its own demonstrations every time the opposition calls for protests.
