Narcos tried to get their drug boat back

May 14, 2019 by Staff News Writer

For the first time, the national authorities saw drug traffickers returning to the scene of the crime in search of the semi-submersible boat they fled.

The suspects of trafficking 2.3 tons of cocaine then fired at a park ranger named Ugalde. He was in a camp in the Corcovado National Park, along with Border Police and the National Coast Guard Service.

According to the Minister of Security, Michael Soto, the park ranger was not alone and was not taking care of any drug shipments, since this one had already been taken from Llorona beach.

On Saturday, the drug was taken out in by air and sea to Golfito. The semi-submersible remained in the place and two border officers and two coast guard officers were sent to guard it when authorities found it.”

The hierarch said that there are several hypotheses to understand why the criminals returned. For example, he pointed out that one of the possibilities is that they tried to flee the place in the boat.

After the incident, the authorities had to carry out an operation to move the park ranger to the Drake airport and take the official to the Mexico hospital where he recovers.

At the time of the attack, two subjects of surnames Angulo (Colombian) and Estupiñón (Chilean) were arrested.

It’s not normal for someone to be there,”

explained Soto.
