The president, Carlos Alvadado, will ask the authorities of Germany to expand their cooperation towards Costa Rica in the area of dual education.
The dual education system aims at having students learn a trade by spending a third of their time in an educational center receiving the theory and the other two thirds doing the practice in a company linked to the specialty they choose.
This plan was implemented in the country in 2017, with the help of Germany, with a pilot project in automotive mechanics at the Vocational Center for Arts and Crafts (Covao) in Cartago, as well as the Professional Technical Colleges (CTP) Monseñor Sanabria, in Desamparados; Carlos Manuel Vicente, in Golfito; and Jesús Ocaña, in Alajuela.
According to the President, during his tour he will ask Germany to extend this cooperation. At the same time, it will ask German companies to adopt this model within its contracts in the country.
In addition to this issue, the president said he will touch on the aspects of decarbonization and migration plans.
In the next few hours, the Presidency will announce his agenda in the European country, but he said that on Monday he will have meetings with the Chancellor, Angela Merkel and the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeir and local businessmen.
Also, in Hamburg, he said he will have meetings with the port authorities of that city.
President Alvarado will be accompanied by the chancellor; Manuel Ventura, and the leaders of Foreign Trade and Science and Technology; Dyala Jiménez and Luis Adrián Salazar, respectively.
During the absence of Alvadado, the Presidency will be exercised by Vice President Marvin Rodríguez.
