National company grants paternity leave

June 14, 2019 by Staff News Writer

New fathers who work for Cabletica will enjoy a Parental License that will allow them to share much more time with their families during the birth of their children. From now on, the male employees who work in the company will be able to enjoy a fully paid eight-week leave after becoming a father.

This Policy of Liberty Latin America (LLA), company to which Cabletica belongs since October 2018, seeks to promote parental equality among the employees of all the companies that are part of the group, which operates in more than 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The benefit also seeks to provide more support for the employees in the return to work process, since it gives the possibility of enjoying the benefit continuously or intermittently and applies both for biological children and for adoptive fathers.

In other countries where maternity leave is not available, LLA workers will have 16 weeks of paid leave.

In Costa Rica, extensive efforts have been made to promote paternity leave through laws and guidelines promoted by the Executive and Legislative Power, but for the time being, mechanisms for its establishment have not been established, so the company decided to take a step towards a culture of greater equality.
