ANDE calls for regional strikes on June 19th and 26th

June 18, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Association of Educators (ANDE) called its affiliates across the country to regional strikes on Wednesday 19th and 26th of June.

ANDE stands up in the fight against the projects that harm the working class,”

they said. The decision was made after a meeting held last Friday during the XXXV Extraordinary Congress.

The movements will be carried out in squares, regional houses, parks and other public places and will be organized by each subsidiary.

In the case of San José, the concentration will take place at 9 am in the Central Park and will group several branches throughout the province.

There will also be demonstrations in Ciudad Quesada, Monserrat de Alajuela, Liberia, Cartago Regional House, Palmar Norte, Puntarenas, Heredia, Los Chiles, among other places that are yet to be defined.

ANDE is the second Education union to call a strike, after the Association of Teachers of Second Education (APSE) will convene an intermittent movement that began on June 6th with a national march.

In the case of APSE, the union reported that for the calls for June 18th and 19th, they will have the support of nine health unions in a so-called “National Civic Struggle.”
