PLN will chair commission to investigate PAC campaigns

June 19, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Liberation Party (PLN) will preside over the special commission of the Legislative Assembly that will investigate the financing of three political campaigns of the ruling Citizen Action Party (PAC).

The Legislative Plenary established the group of legislators who will be in charge of the investigation against the PAC for the use of special service contracts for the electoral campaigns in 2002, 2006 and 2010.

The commission is made up of: Franggi Nicolás, from the National Liberation Party (PLN), the liberationist Gustavo Viales, who will preside over the group, Dragos Dolanescu, from the Republican Social Christian Party (PRSC), Ivonne Acuña, from the independent block New Republic, Giovanny Gómez, from the National Restoration Party (PRN), Pedro Muñoz, from the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC) and Catalina Montero, from the PAC.

They will have a period of up to six months to submit a report to the Legislative Plenary.

The investigation on the financing of the campaigns of the PAC takes place in the frame of the criminal process against the group to the detriment of the public treasury, mainly by 263 contracts that, in average, reach 1.9 million colones each one.
