Will the price of gas rise with the VAT?

June 28, 2019 by Staff News Writer

There are still many doubts about the impact of the Value Added Tax in the country, including what will happen with the price of fuels.

The economist Daniel Zuchar explained that fuels will not be taxed with 13%. However, he said that within the production chain, VAT increases could occur and they mught be reflected in the consumer price.

Gasoline is not going to charge VAT, but internally there may be an effect on the price because there are some services that are paid with VAT (…) That price does not have VAT, but it will carry the VAT internally,”

explained Zuchar.

That was one of the clarified queries in the Enfoques program on June 27th.
