33.4% of the population wouldn’t support any former president

May 19, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The latest survey by the Center for Research and Policy Studies (CIEP), University of Costa Rica, said that, if elections were held today, 33.4% of Costa Ricans would not support any candidate who has already occupied the presidential chair.

However, the study shows that 63.9% of respondents would support a former president, but none of them reaches the 40% of support required for the election to be binding.

In this scenario, liberationist former president Oscar Arias (1986-1990 / 2006-2010) is the one who gets more popular support, with 24%.

Recently, Arias’ close friends said he would soon announce his return to the political arena.
