Earthquake with epicenter in Guanacaste had a 5.5 magnitude

A medium-intensity earthquake was felt on Sunday night, with an epicenter in the Pacific area of ​​the country.

According to the National Seismological Network, the tremor had a 5.5 magnitude with a depth of 57 kilometers, and its epicenter was 31 kilometers south of the Guanacaste Cross.

The Vulcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported it as of magnitude 5.4.

Neighbors mainly from the Guanacaste area posted on social media having perceived the movement, which didn’t cause further damage.

Despite this, the Fire Department proceeded to remove all its units from the stations, as part of the emergency response protocol.
