Costa Rican arrested for trafficking Cubans

July 9, 2019 by Staff News Writer

A man named Rugama Arauz was arrested as a suspect in the trafficking of Cuban migrants in Cañas, Guanacaste.

The arrest was made by agents of the Professional Migration Police and the Public Force, who carried out vehicular control and intercepted a vehicle that tried to flee.

The officers and the Public Force managed to stop the vehicle and Arauz, and found the six Cubans, all with an irregular condition.

This type of preventive actions, in cooperation with other police forces, are carried out in order to fight the illicit trafficking of people, a crime that exposes not only whoever carries it out, but also the migrants,”

said Stephen Madden from the Migration Professional Police.

In view of this arrest, the Migration officials coordinate immediately with the Public Ministry for the transfer of Rugama Arauz for the corresponding procedure.
