Students announce more protests for this week

July 22, 2019 by Staff News Writer

After a week of demonstrations in schools mainly in the North Zone of the country, student movements announced more protests that will not involve closures, but possible blockades.

According to Eduard Miranda, founder of the National Student Resistance (RNE) and member of the Secondary Student Movement (MEDSE), from July 22nd to 29th, regionalized demonstrations will be maintained in front of the schools.

However, despite the experience of the previous week, Miranda said that the movements of the next few days will not carry out closures of educational centers, since he even described as a mistake.

It was a mistake we made at the beginning, we can’t close public institutions, we don’t have the right to close them. We are fighting for student rights and we cannot deny the right to study to other students, because we cannot deny that there are those who wish to go to the educational center,”

explained Miranda.

The student added that they will remain in protest against FARO, Dual Education, better use of public funds and the project that aims to end strikes.
